That says if car adverts are shot in the U.S.A. and involves Americans with AMERICAN accents, then the car is TO BE SOLD in the U.S.A.. Period.
Too many car companies are using our beautiful landscapes to film adverts and then turn around only to sell their cars to the rest of the developed world.
This one is even more egregious. Skoda, if you caused a small town in Alaska to change its name to match that of your new SUV, then that car BETTER BE SOLD HERE, goddammit! Or else GIT OUT!
(To be fair, Skoda recently announced they are eyeing a re-entry into North America and we do buy a crapload of SUVs, but they better not pussyfoot around! No excuses if they went this far.).
Here’s the car in question:

Seriously, they would likely do well in the US. At least everyone in the market for a new SUV who also watches Top Gear would be checking out a Yeti.

Yeah, America needs more luxury SUVs, our market for those is pretty much ignored. We need a Czech Audi Q7.

Hmm...nah. We got enough crossover-SUV things to choose from here. They can keep that one.

Skoda isn’t really luxury, it’s more budget luxury, comparable to VW or even a bit below that in price point, however a bit fancier in some ways. So I guess the Skoda Kodiaq could compete with the Ford Escape and such, which is probably what it will be doing over here in Europe too.

So it would compete with the VW Touareg, with which it shares it’s chassis?

I guess it would compete more with the Tiguan, since it shares the chassis with that one, though it is a bit bigger. I figured the Escape competes with the Tiguan in America, since the Kuga(an Escape with a different badge) competes with those here in Europe.

You’re saying that if a car company is willing to put money into your country and hire your country’s citizens, they shouldn’t because they’re not selling the car there?
Would Americans even buy a Skoda SUV? I suspect not.
